Pakistan’s name on the Indian team’s jersey

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shown that the Indian cricket group will observe all uniform rules using the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the imminent ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This includes providing the host country, Pakistan, with Pakistan’s call at the reliable jersey, as required underneath ICC guidelines.

Addressing speculation about objections to the jersey layout, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia clarified that the Indian group will follow all ICC rules “in true letter and spirit.”

“BCCI will observe each uniform-related ICC rule during the Champions Trophy,” Saikia said, using the Press Trust of India (PTI). He further brushed off rumors that the BCCI had raised concerns about the host country’s name acting on the jersey, calling them unfounded.

The ICC Champions Trophy, set to take place from February 19 to March 9, will be held under a unique “Hybrid Model” due to India’s refusal to tour Pakistan, citing safety issues. Under this association, Pakistan will host the tournament, but India will play all its matches, including the particularly anticipated clash against Pakistan in Dubai.

BCCI Awaits Decision on Rohit Sharma’s Participation in Pre-Tournament Media

While the BCCI has dedicated itself to adhering to the ICC get-dressed code, a decision is still pending on whether Indian captain Rohit Sharma will travel to Pakistan for ICC pre-event engagements. These consist of media activities such as a pre-occasion press convention and a legitimate image shoot in Lahore.

“Whether Rohit Sharma travels to Pakistan for ICC media engagements is something that’s nonetheless now not decided,” Saikia confirmed.

Speculation about the jersey design arose amid demanding political ties between India and Pakistan, leading to rumors that the BCCI had objected to sporting the host nation’s name. However, Saikia emphasized that the ICC has not objected to this established protocol.

When Pakistan toured India for the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, its players, including captain Babar Azam, followed the identical protocol, carrying jerseys bearing the host nation’s name.

Hybrid Model to Govern Tournament Format

This 12-month Champions Trophy marks the first time a “Hybrid Model” is applied in an ICC event. The version became proposed due to the Indian authorities’s refusal to permit its cricket team to journey to Pakistan. Under the association, Pakistan will host matches in its territory, even as India’s matches will occur in Dubai.

India is set to play all its league-level matches in Dubai, along with the marquee conflict with Pakistan. Should India progress to the semi-finals and final, those matches may also be held in Dubai.

The BCCI’s choice to follow ICC hints reflects its dedication to international cricket protocols, notwithstanding the complicated political backdrop surrounding India-Pakistan cricket ties. Cricket lovers worldwide eagerly look forward to the match, with the India-Pakistan conflict in Dubai expected to be one of the highlights of the occasion.
